Vacuum Leak Detector — 1/4″ to 3″ Outer Diameter
The Vacuum Leak Detector (VLD) is a simple test instrument used by manufacturers and users of condensers, heat exchangers and other tubular apparatus to identify leaky tubes from 1/4 to 3-inch (6.4 – 76.2mm) Outer Diameter. With the VLD, one user can seal the far end of a tube with a snap type tube plug by pressing the rubber-coated nozzle into the near end of the tube and depressing the trigger. A steady Gauge reading indicates a good tube, while a falling vacuum indicates a leaky tube. Using a 90 psi dry clean air, a typical tube (1-inch Outer Diameter x 20-Gauge and 20-feet in length) can be tested in 6 to 8 seconds. The VLD weighs 2-1/4 pounds and is equipped with a muffler, providing quiet operation even in confined areas.
The VLD can be used with accessory parts, including the Tube Plug Snap for 3/8 to 2-inch (9.5 – 50.8mm) Outer Diameter. Additional nozzles are available from 1/4 to 3-inch (6.4 – 76.2mm) Outer Diameter and nozzle extensions are available from 5/8 to 2-inch (15.9 – 50.8mm) Outer Diameter. The Vacuum Leak Detector is available on a rental basis.

One-Piece Tube Plugs are available in sizes ranging from 3/8 to 3-inch (9.5 – 76.2mm) Outer Diameter and are well-suited for use in condensers, heat exchangers and boilers. They come in a variety of materials, including brass, carbon steel, stainless steel, fiber and monel (made to order). One-Piece Tube Plugs are packaged 10 per box, except 1-1/2-inch Outer Diameter or larger tube plugs which are packaged individually. Please note that fiber tube plugs require minimal driving since they tighten as soon as they come into contact with water. It is also important to remember that fiber tube plugs should never be subjected to temperatures exceeding 221°F (105°C).
Push Type Tube Cutters are designed for cutting and removing ferrous and non-ferrous tubes with 1/2 to 2-inch (12.7 – 50.8mm) Outer Diameter. These efficient tools cut tubes in seconds and attach to both electric and pneumatic drills. The tube trimmer is attached to the push type tube cutter when considerable tube projection needs to be cut off.
One Revolution Tube Cutters are used in heat exchangers. They cut up to 10-inch thick tubesheets and tubes with 1/2 to 1-1/2-inch (12.7 – 38.1mm) Outer Diameter. No special drives are required as these Tube Cutters can be used with a hand wrench or ratchet.
The Insert Type Facing Tool features an adjustable collar that provides projection control as well as cutter bits that can be easily replaced, significantly lengthening the life of the product. Delrin Pilots are available for 5/8-inch (15.9mm) and larger tools for non-scoring applications. Insert Type Tube End Facing Tools can be used on tubes with a 5/8 to 2-inch Outer Diameter (15.9 – 50.8mm).
The Fixed Type Tube End Facing Tool features an adjustable collar that provides projection control for flute high-speed steel and allows for simple replacement of pilots. This tool can be used on tubes with a 1/4 to 9/16-inch Outer Diameter (6.4 – 14.3mm).
Both the Flat and Radius Tube End Facing Tools trim tubes to a consistent projection. They feature an adjustable collar for projection control, a removable taper or chucking shank that provides drives flexibility and cutters that can easily be sharpened. These Flat and Radius Facing Tools can be used on tubes with a 5/8 to 2-inch Outer Diameter (15.9 – 50.8mm).
Tube Wall Reducing Tools help relieve tube joints prior to cutting. Their innovative, self-center design prevents damage to the sheet. In addition, tubes do not need to be cleaned prior to use. Tube Wall Reducing Tools can be used on tubes with a 1/4 to 1-1/2-inch Outer Diameter (6.4 – 38.1mm).
